Burley Point Writers' Group for Recreational Writers

Okay. You love to write but you've never been published. It's not that you haven't secretly longed to have a byline or hold a copy of your  life story in hand as the line of fans awaiting your signature snakes out the door of Barnes and Noble.

You're a realist, however.  Life has taught you that. But you have ideas. Lots of them.  And you're a great e-mailer.  Friends and family have encouraged you to write.  They look forward to your letters, admire your expertise in a certain area and wish you'd write down what you know. You had a miserable childhood. You had a happy childhood. You're a successful business man who has  learned a lot through experience. Life is hard. Life is good. You've known loss, terror, love and accomplishment. You are a survivor. You've failed. You've won.  Had passionate affairs. A nervous breakdown. A happy marriage. Your children have been a joy; or heartache.  You are self-conscious about writing because your fourth grade teacher gave back one of your papers filled with red marks. 

You've been around the barn. The block. The world. 

You're human and there's something inside of you that wants to come out on paper....or a word processor.

It's about half the cost and half the time of the group for professionals, but the one thing they both have in common is that you will be a better writer because of your experience here on Burley Point.

Cost: $100 enrollment fee; $129 per month paid quarterly.

Mornings 9 a.m. to noon

Afternoons 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Start date to be determined based on openings.
