The first step is to determine which group is right for you. A professional writer may choose to join the group for recreational writers, however to join the professional group one must have had their work published in a recognized publication.
Next, e-mail your interest in joining a group. If space is available you may start right away. If not, you will be able to join the next group in formation. Be prepared to send copies of your work.

Or, take Route 50 (toward the Bay Bridge) to the St. Margarets Road exit. Follow St. Margarets to Pleasant Plains Road. Turn left on Pleasant Plains, then right on Cherry. Right on Burley to 1888.

Good question. She's been trying to figure that out for close to 53 years now. Gammack was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a radio talk show host on WHO radio in the 1980s and became a columnist for The Des Moines Register in 1988 which evolved into a daily feature anchoring the front page of the Today section.. She was an early adopter of the Internet and got so excited about the new communication media that she became a part of the E-Rush and jumped from the safety and security of an established entity to create central Iowa's first news and information Internet site. Being deeply rooted in the content-side of the business, she learned fast that writers are dependent upon advertisers who pay the way for wordsmiths to play. This was the first of many lessons in the business of writing.
Gammack decided that many of her favorite people are writers, so she created unique writers' conferences that combined experiential growth exercises with small group discussions and expert speakers, all of which were held in places she wanted to visit. The Blue Ridge Mountains and the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state were wonderful venues for these gatherings.
Throughout Gammacks' careers she has consistently been interested in personal growth and has completed a number of trainings, including a masters-level course, "The Art of Coaching."
Currently, Gammack leads a group of CEO entrepreneurs in the Annapolis region through TEC International. She is a mother of one, an artist, and a writer who along with her mate in life, live in what they consider to be the coolest place on the planet. Burley Point.

Why not? If you've gotten this far into the web site there is clearly something drawing you to learn, be inspired, reinvent yourself, or try a new approach to what you love to do. Actions often take place in conversation and who better to spend a chunk of one day a month than incredibly interesting and interested people who make up the Burley Point Writers' Group?
It's a bit like the difference between staring at the stationery bicycle in the room versus going to an exercise class at the gym. There's just something bonding about getting sweaty with others that spurs us on to go another mile, and pushes us farther than we might go by ourselves.
Why should you join? You will become a better writer. Period.
